The Train & Grain Festival Student Art Contest celebrates the creativity of Saginaw’s youth while showcasing the spirit of our city’s Train and Grain heritage. Students in grades K–12 are invited to participate in this festival art competition.
Submission Deadline: October 6, 2025

Each grade category (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–12) will have:

Eligibility
-
Open to all students in grades K–12 who live in Saginaw or attend a EMS-ISD School
-
Entries must be the student’s original work.

Categories by Grade
-
Category A: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
-
Category B: 3rd – 5th Grade
-
Category C: 6th – 8th Grade
-
Category D: 9th – 12th Grade

Theme
-
Artwork should reflect one or more of the following themes connected to Saginaw and the Train & Grain Festival:

Trains of Saginaw – celebrating our railroad heritage.
-
Grain & Agriculture – honoring the grain elevators and farming roots.
-
Community Pride – what makes Saginaw unique and special.
-
Festival Fun – music, food, parades, and celebration.

Mediums
-
Accepted: Drawing, painting, mixed media, collage, or digital art (must be printed).

Artwork must be on paper no larger than 11"x14".

No 3D art (sculpture, ceramics, etc.) at this time.

Submission Guidelines

Each student may submit one entry.

All entries must have the student’s name, grade, school, and contact information attached to the back (or securely with tape for digital prints).
